Basement Boulders Gone After 25 Years

Basement Boulders Gone After 25 Years

One of the most gratifying parts of the job is receiving feedback from our customers and learning how they use Dexpan to tackle projects big and small.

Here is wonderful message with accompanying photos we received.   Thanks very much for sharing John!

"A little bit of history about the large rock that you will see in the pictures of the basement of our cottage.

About 25 years ago when we were much younger my now brother in-law and I drilled about 20 1/2" holes in the rock and tried to break it up with a wedge and small sledge hammer without success.   My son and I tried to break it up again last summer with a wedge and small sledge hammer without success again.

A couple of months ago my son and I drilled the holes bigger to 1" - 1 1/4" diameter.  A couple weekends ago I filled three holes with water and let them sit for 24 hours to acclimate to the ambient and large rock temperature. I put a meat thermometer (In some of the pictures) in and found that the Dexpan I had (Type 3) was not suitable for the current temperature of the large rock.

I re-ordered double the type 2 Dexpan and put it in the holes the weekend of July 13, 2018.

I am very happy to report that the Dexpan product has worked wonderfully and we can now remove the rocks and get rid of the dirt under them to hopefully help with the moisture problem in the basement."
